HOW TO: Override the name of Recovery Tables used by PowerCenter relational target connections

Solution:

When you run a session that is enabled for recovery, the Integration Service creates or reuses the following recovery tables on the relational target:

  • PM_RECOVERY
  • PM_TGT_RUN_ID
  • PM_REC_STATE

The Integration Service uses the same recovery tables for all relational targets in each session. If you run a lot of sessions, the recovery tables can consume too much space or database access can be limited.
You can configure the session to override the recovery table names and use customized names. You can customize any or all of the recovery table names. When the Integration Service runs the session, it creates or reuses the recovery tables. The Integration Service creates the table with the name you specified. Or, if you manually created the recovery table, the Integration Service uses that table. If you do not specify a name, then the Integration Service uses the default recovery table.

Example:

Use the customized name, RECOVERY_STATE, for some of your sessions and the default recovery table, PM_REC_STATE, for the remainder. To override the name of the recovery target table, configure a custom property in the Workflow Manager for the session or the session configuration object. Or, you can configure the custom property in the Administration Console for the Integration Service.
The following table describes the corresponding custom property for each recovery table:

Custom Property Recovery Table
TgtRecoveryTableName PM_RECOVERY
TgtIdRecoveryTableName PM_TGT_RUN_ID
StateRecoveryTableName PM_REC_STATE

To override the recovery table name:

  • In the Workflow Manager, open the session properties and click the Config Object tab.
    -or-
  • In the Administration Console, select the Integration Service and click the Properties tab.
  • In Custom Properties, click the edit button.
  • Enter the custom property and recovery table name in the Attribute and Value fields.
  • Click OK.

More Information:

The PM_REC_STATE is for real-time sessions and is only created when using the real-time option.
